Y2Y Program

The mission of the Youth 2 Youth Center (Y2Y) is to empower youth to make healthy decisions for themselves through guidance, education, and access to services. The Y2Y strives to be the primary source for youth’s sexual health services, be the leading youth sexual health provider in the community, guarantee the highest quality sexual health services for youth, and have a welcoming, youth friendly facility that provides a unique experience.

Established in 2000 with a grant from the California Wellness Foundation, the Y2Y serves as a drop-in and resource center for all youth in the South Bay. The Y2Y is a place where young people can come to hang out, meet new people, watch movies in our TV lounge, use the computer lab, play video games, and have an overall good time in a safe environment.

The Y2Y is staffed by local youth between the ages of 16-24. As trained Peer Educators, they are here to listen to the youth no matter what the situation is…divorce, death, a broken heart, school, options for preventing an unplanned pregnancy, or the latest episode of Jersey Shore. Many teens do not feel comfortable speaking to their parents or guardians about certain matters, especially things like sex and relationships. Y2Y Peer Educators spend numerous hours training on how to relate to their peers and updating their knowledge on Sexually Transmitted Diseases and other teen issues.

Family Planning Services

Besides coming to hang out, we also offer family planning services that include:

  • - Reproductive Health Exams
  • - Birth Control Methods
  • - Emergency Contraception aka “The Morning After Pill”
  • - Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
  • - Individual Education and Counseling
  • - Screening Tests for some types of Cancer
  • - STI Testing and Treatment
  • - HIV Testing and Counseling

Free and confidential is the name of our game. All of our services are free of charge and completely private. We will not tell your parents, relatives, siblings, friends, partners, teachers, neighbors, dogs, cats, etc…You get the picture. The only exception to this would be if we learned from you that you are being abused physically or sexually, or planning to harm yourself or others. These are the main reasons why we would break confidentiality. Don’t get us wrong though, bottom line…we just want to help you. In doing this we would be able to find the right person who would be able to help you better with those concerns.
