The Youth-2-Youth Program

The Y2Y is a place where young people can come to hang out, meet new people, watch movies in our TV lounge, use our computer lab, and have an overall good time in a safe environment. The Center is staffed by youth ages 14–18.  As a trained Peer Educators, they are here to listen to the youth no matter what the situation is…..divorce, death, or less strenuous matters such as a broken heart.  Many teens do not feel comfortable speaking to there parents about certain matters, especially things like sex and relationships.  Our Peer Educa tors spend numerous of hours training on how to relate to their peers and updating their knowledge on sexually transmitted diseases and other teen issues.

 

Besides coming to hang out, we also offer family planning services that include:

• Reproductive Health Exams
• Birth Control Methods
• Emergency Contraception aka "The Morning After Pill"
• Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
• Individual Education and Counseling
• Screening Tests for some types of Cancer
• STI Testing and Treatment
• HIV Testing and Counseling

Free and confidential is the name of our game. All of our services are free of charge and completely private. We will not tell your parents, relatives, siblings, friends, partners, teachers, neighbors, dogs, cats, etc...You get the picture. The only exception to this would be if we learned from you that you are being abused physically or sexually, or planning to harm yourself or others. These are the main reasons why we would break confidentiality. Don't get us wrong though, bottom line...we just want to help you. In doing this we would be able to find the right person who would be able to help you better with those concerns.
